Bring Your Pet to Blumz Ferndale This Saturday and Win Big!

This Saturday, December 10th Blumz by JRDesigns in Ferndale is inviting you to bring your pet into the store to win big this holiday season.  We love pets and we love meeting our neighbors so we are inviting you to bring your furry friends into our Ferndale store wearing their favorite holiday outfit!

From 11 am - 2 pm on Saturday we will be taking a picture of every pet that visits us and we will be posting those pictures on our Facebook. Then, over the next week we will be asking all of our followers to vote by liking the photo of the pet that rocked their outfit the best. After a week, the pet with the most likes will win a $50 dollar gift certificate for their owner to stock up on holiday decor or pick up some fresh flowers this holiday season.  Ferndale is kicking off the holiday season on Saturday with their Holiday Ice Festival so we wanted to get into the fun. The Story of Sweetest Day

Have you ever wondered why we celebrate Sweetest Day every October?  Well, here is the origin story of the holiday.

"Over 60 years ago, a Cleveland man, believing that the city’s orphans and shut-ins too often felt forgotten and neglected, conceived the idea of showing them that they were remembered by the distribution of small gifts. With the help of his friends and neighbors, he distributed these small remembrances on a Saturday in October. During the years that followed, other Clevelanders began to participate in the celebration ceremony, which came to be called “Sweetest Day.”

 In time, the Sweetest Day idea of spreading cheer to the underprivileged was broadened to include everyone and became an occasion for remembering others with a kind act or a small remembrance. And soon, the idea spread to other cities all over the country. Sweetest Day is celebrated on the third Saturday in October as a day to make someone happy. It is an occasion which offers all of us an opportunity to remember not only the sick, aged and orphaned, but also friends, relatives and associates whose helpfulness and kindness we have enjoyed. It is a reminder that a thoughtful word or deed enriches life and gives it meaning".

Many of us see Sweetest Day as a holiday for couples like Valentine's Day, but its actually a very different holiday.  It is a day to do something sweet for all the people in your life! So, celebrate Sweetest Day with all the sweets in your life this Saturday, October 15th!

Blumz by JRDesigns Mothers Day Gift Guide

Mother's Day is just around the corner, this year we will celebrate on May 10th, 2015. Many of us will visit our mothers with gifts or send something special to let her know we care, even if we cannot be there. Blumz by JRDesigns receives orders and delivers flowers and gifts to mothers all around the world. We create beautiful one of a kind bouquets that would make any mom smile, but wouldn't it be fun to do something extra special this year?  Here are a few ideas on how to make this holiday one to remember! 

1- Add gardening tools and seeds to her bouquet-
How about incorporating some new gardening tools into the floral display that you give/send to her. A gardening hoe, new gloves, and some fresh seeds can be added to the bouquet. 2- Give her a indoor garden that anyone can easily take care of-
Succulents, air plants and terrariums are a really great way to have some greens indoors without having to do a lot of maintenance.  These plants only need water when they are dry (think once a month or when the soil is dry to the touch) and lots of light.
