Bring Your Pet to Blumz Ferndale This Saturday and Win Big!

This Saturday, December 10th Blumz by JRDesigns in Ferndale is inviting you to bring your pet into the store to win big this holiday season.  We love pets and we love meeting our neighbors so we are inviting you to bring your furry friends into our Ferndale store wearing their favorite holiday outfit!

From 11 am - 2 pm on Saturday we will be taking a picture of every pet that visits us and we will be posting those pictures on our Facebook. Then, over the next week we will be asking all of our followers to vote by liking the photo of the pet that rocked their outfit the best. After a week, the pet with the most likes will win a $50 dollar gift certificate for their owner to stock up on holiday decor or pick up some fresh flowers this holiday season.  Ferndale is kicking off the holiday season on Saturday with their Holiday Ice Festival so we wanted to get into the fun. Visit Blumz Ferndale with your pet, take a photo and you will be entered to win big this holiday! Plus, you can check out all the cool gifts and decor that we have in stock for you or another pet lover in your life!

Petal it Foward Detroit

WHAT:

Blumz by JRDesgins is hitting the streets of Detroit on Wednesday, October 19th to hand out 1000+ flowers to Detroiters to help brighten their day as part of the National “Petal it Forward” campaign sponsored by SAF. Each person will receive two bouquets- one to keep and one to share.


WHY:

The “Petal it Forward” program is in response to the release of new data from the Society of American Florists (SAF) showing the positive emotional benefits of flowers. Research shows that both giving and receiving flowers yields these positive results!

Win Tickets to See The Sound of Music in Detroit!

A mother is someone who takes care of you, who looks after you and comforts you when you are down. Some of us only get one mom and others have lots of moms that look out for us and help us navigate through life.

In the musical "The Sound of Music" Maria comes into the Von Trapp family's life and changes everything. She looks after the children, teaches them, loves them and eventually falls in love with Captain von Trapp. It’s a touching story about love, family, and of course music. Maria isn’t the children's mother but she takes care of the children and looks out for them like she is.

If you are lucky enough to have a ‘mother’ in your life you know how important it is to show them how much you appreciate them on Mother’s Day. Blumz by JRDesigns has two ways for you to do that this year.

First, we created a one of a kind design inspired by "The Sound of Music" which is playing on Broadway in Detroit from May 10th-22th! This arrangement features roses, green trick, hydrangea, spray roses and more. The greens represent the rolling hills of Austria, the blues represent the sky and the yellow represents a “ray of golden sun”. The entire arrangement is placed in a “brown paper package” and “tied up with strings” and will be one of the receiver's favorite things. Plus, 20 % of the cost will be donated to the Susan G. Celebrate Blumz Forget Me Not Friday This Year for Valentine's

Every year on February 14th we celebrate Valentine’s Day. People send flowers and candies to show their love and appreciation for their partners, friends, and family.  We love Valentine’s Day and we love celebrating love. In fact, we wish everyday was as magical as Valentine’s Day so we came up with a fun way to stretch this year's holiday out a little further.   

Since Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday February 14th  this year we think it would be fun to send flowers and candies a little earlier in the week before the holiday. Every Wednesday Blumz by JRDesigns runs a Hump Day Happiness giveaway. Our designers create a one of a kind Blumz by JRDesigns arrangement and we post it on our Facebook page for people to like, share, and comment on. Anyone who does those three things is entered to win the arrangement.Then, on Thursday we randomly choose a winner to take home the fresh Blumz. As you can imagine, people love winning our flowers, but this week we are making the giveaway a little sweeter.

This week, our drawing will take place on  Monday October 19th and the winner will get a lot more than beautiful flowers.  The winner of this weeks HDH prize will also receive a pair of tickets to see Dirty Dancing at The Fischer Theater on Thursday, October 22nd!!!!  This weeks winner will be drawn on Wednesday evening and they will be able to come pick up the flowers and the tickets on Thursday before the show!

The Fischer Theater is hosting a very special night in honor of in celebration of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Susan G. Komen Detroit Race For The Cure.  $15 dollars from each ticket sold that night will go to breast cancer research.

Weekly Rose Feature: The Clown Rose

Today is the official kickoff of National Rose Month. In honor of the holiday Blumz by JRDesigns is giving away a dozen roses everyday in the month of June. If you would like to enter to win a dozen roses click here. We are also going to be running some specials and carrying roses in our coolers that we wouldn't usually have in stock. This weeks featured rose is the Clown Rose.

The Clown Rose is a hybrid rose. They typically bloom in the summer months and love the warm weather. They are recognizable by their beautiful spotted pattern. They start out white and get darker at the ends. They come in a variety of colors and are safe to grow in high heat and direct sunlight. These roses grow very fast during the summer season but cannot survive frost, which makes them a risky flower to grow in Michigan.

They are beautiful and hard to come by.This week will will have them in stock at both our Detroit and Ferndale locations. Please give us a call if you would like to place an order for delivery or pick up. You can also come in and design your own arrangement if you would like. Individual Clown Roses are $3.99, a dozen is $49.99 and a dozen vased is $59.99.  It might seem silly to you but you would be surprised how much a bouquet of Clown Roses will make everyone smile!

Blumz "It's All Coming Up Roses" Contest in Celebration of National Rose Month!

Did you know that June is National Rose Month?  In fact, the rose was named our national flower in 1986. Roses are used to celebrate, morn, memorialize, and to decorate.  There are 150 known species of roses, which means that they come in a lot of different colors, styles and shapes.

To celebrate National Rose Month Blumz by JRDesigns wanted to do something extra special this year. We will be giving away a dozen roses every day during the month of June!  That's right, we will be giving out one dozen roses all thirty days of the month.  To enter to win please email your full name to Sadie@blumz.com. We  will be randomly picking out a winner everyday of the month, that winner will be able to come into one of our stores (Detroit or Ferndale) to pick up their roses when they win. Blumz by JRDesigns Mother's Day Contest

Did you know that every flower has a meaning?  The type and color of the flowers that you give to someone special can hold a lot of significance if you know the meaning behind the arrangement.  Flowers are always a great gift, but flowers that have a special meaning are even better!

In honor of Mother’s Day, we thought it would be fun to teach all of you the meaning of some of the most common seasonal flowers by creating a contest based on some of our favorite springtime florals. Blumz has compiled a list of the meanings below and we are giving all of you an opportunity to win a special arrangement for Mother’s Day.  Using the meanings of the different flowers listed below,write a paragraph describing what you love or admire about your mother, your wife, or someone that served as a mother figure in your life. For example, I would describe my mother as a Sunflower. She is bright, beautiful and resilient. My mother makes it through the hard times with incredible inner strength and a strong faith.
